MOVIE AUDITION RULES

1. Arrival

Get to your movie audition at least 15 minutes early. Use this time to sign in with the assistant casting director. Go over your audition sides and mentally prepare yourself. This time is crucial to prepare yourself. You want to be centered and ready to start off on the right foot. Remain relaxed and polite and remember to smile.

2. The Movie Audition Process

Hand your headshot with resume to the casting assistant. When you slate, give your name, the role you are auditioning for and your contact information. Listen to any notes or information the director has to offer regarding the character and the scene. Be open to suggestions and do your best to incorporate them. You are also showing your ability to take direction here.

Approach this part of the film audition process with a winning attitude. Your goal is to land a job. The best way to do this is to give a great performance. You also need to be open and flexible. You can never know exactly what to expect. You may be asked to deliver a prepared monologue as well. Have some ready just in case you need them during the audition. Make sure you announce the title of the piece. You may be asked to improvise as the character you are auditioning for. So be open and be ready.

3. How to Exit

When you have completed your audition piece do not rush out of the room. Take a few moments to find out if any questions will be asked or if you are to read or perform something else as well. Do not ask for notes or their impressions. If not, thank all those in the room and exit gracefully. If you are going to be called back, you will be notified. So let go, move on and hope for the best.
